The Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) is considered the best in the South of Brazil. In fact, not only that, in an assessment made by the Ministry of Education (MEC) in 2019, it was elected the best in Brazil among the federals. And in relation to all public colleges, it was second only to the State University of Campinas (Unicamp), in São Paulo.

UFRGS reached the best score among all federal universities in the General Course Index (IGC), with a score of 4.29 in a score ranging from 1 to 5. And it is not today that the university in Rio Grande do Sul appears among the best in the country , in 2012, 2013 and 2014 they had already won this education race. The university’s goal is to overcome its own challenges, those that arise every day. Although there has been a reduction in resources in recent years, education has continued to be of quality, returning to the training of professionals. Thus, one of the pillars of UFSC is to maintain the importance of the community of teachers, technicians and students.
